I am setting up therapy for my child-how does this work?
I meet with the parents first (without your child) to get a history and clear picture of what is happening with your child. This is also an opportunity for you and I to get to know each other before introducing your child to the treatment process. This is considered the first session and will be billed to your insurance.
Subsequent sessions all look different depending on the issue, but generally I do a check in with parent+child at the beginning of each session, then meet with the child alone for the remainder of the session.
I don't necessarily check in with parents at the end of the session again, but will communicate if we worked on skills, if there are things I want you to continue at home, etc. I also do parent only sessions as therapy progresses as well.
I think my teen could use counseling-how does this work?
I prefer to meet with a parent and teenager together during the initial session and request that you provide history and concerns. Subsequent sessions are usually with the teen only. I often do parent+teen sessions or family sessions as needed, with the permission of the teen.
I will only be able to provide updates to parents about their teen's progress in therapy with the teens permission. However, I will immediately act if I have concerns that the teen is suicidal and a danger to themself, or if they tell me they are being abused.
Which parent do you meet with when they are divorced?
I like to meet both parents of child clients. My job is to be a support for your child, be neutral about the parents, and provide a place to process feelings. If joint parent sessions are not appropriate, I will meet with parents separately to ensure everyone is involved in the treatment process.

Diagnostic Interview: $200.00
Individual sessions
30 minute: $85.00
45 minute: $125.00
60 minute session: $185.00
Family session $185.00
Do you bill insurance?
Yes, I am an in-network provider on many health insurance plans. I will submit any claims to your health insurance. You are responsible for understanding you health insurance coverage, copay amount and deductible.
If I am out-of network with your insurance provider I will submit claims to your provider and the remaining balance will be your responsibility.
